We encourage all artists, thinkers and creative people at any stage in their career to apply. We seek to fund projects in all disciplines including performances, publications, public projects, interactive pieces, and studio-based work.

All proposals will be reviewed by a committee that includes curators, artists, writers, filmmakers and performers.

Proposals will be evaluated with the following in mind:

  • Artistic quality
  • Administrative skill (feasibility of your project, writing/work sample quality)
  • Impact on your work

If your proposal is accepted, you will be invited to attend a SPREAD event where you will make a short oral presentation (five minutes) so that SPREAD diners can get excited about your project. If your idea wins the most votes, you get the grant that evening (in cash!) and you will be invited to a future SPREAD dinner to talk about the progress of your project. Winners are advised to consult a tax professional regarding the appropriate treatment of the SPREAD grant for Internal Revenue Service purposes.

CRITERIA
SPREAD micro-grants fund projects conceived by New Mexico-based artists. SPREAD grants are project specific and can be as much as $5,000 or more; they are not for funding an art gallery/non-profit organizations’ overall work and should be framed as a project. If you have a question about how this might apply to you, please use our contact page for any inquiries you might have. Please no calls.
